I feel like blueberry is a fairly old fashion flavor that has minimal impact in the ice cream freezer aisle nowadays. Now the best part of it is that we've effectively gotten a blueberry blizzard, and that hasn't happened before. Part of me is definitely impressed by them taking things up a notch like that. DQ (and if you don't think there isn't a difference, just check out some of the worldwide DQ twitter feeds, I follow the one from Panama in particular). I mean, this is something I expect from international DQ, not U.S. I dig in to discover not just fruit bits, but literal whole blueberries and raspberries (or blackberries, who can tell when covered in softserve). well the thing with using real fruit is it means there are seeds in it and that's just not her thing, especially in softserve. I like mine but there's just not much to say about it. We get about half way through our blizzards. I try a spoonful of summer berry, she has a scoop of brownie, and then back to our own again. If you go to DQ with any regularity, you can probably envision what this tastes like. Nothing crazy here and you'll probably feel like you've had this blizzard before. Now my blizzard is just brownies, choco chunks, and cocoa fudge blended in dq soft serve. Let's start from the beginning as we start eating our blizzards.

My wife also lucked out in getting fresh cheesecake bites in her blizzard. Will real berries and a swap of strawberry for blueberry make a difference? You bet it did. That's a switch up from the old Tripleberry blizzard which was strawberry, raspberry and blackberry puree. Now "summer berry" is DQ's blend of real raspberries, blackberries and blueberries. I forgot to try that blizzard while it was available so we'll call this new to me. They don't call it new because it's basically the Royal Ultimate Choco Brownie Blizzard without the fudge core. What I did decide to get is the Choco Brownie Extreme blizzard. Sorry, it had to be done but I will try to get back to DQ on my own soon enough. For the sake of my nut allergic son, I skip over the peanut butter filled bliizards. She does love cheesecake so it's not a huge sacrifice. There’s nothing seasonal about this original Blizzard flavor: Our tasters agreed the OREO-laced treat would taste as good in sweatpants as it would in a swimsuit and shorts-that is, anytime when your sweet tooth beckons or comfort food is required. For the sake of the blog, my wife picks the summer berry cheesecake blizzard. With chewy brownie pieces, chocolate chunks, and fudge, our tasters deemed it almost too much to eat in a sane state of mind.įor eating all year-round: OREO Cookie Blizzard Treat Move over, Ben and Jerry’s! While Parade doesn’t in any way endorse feeding your feelings, if ever there were an occasion to do so, you’d want this flavor on your spoon. If your date doesn’t like-hell, deeply appreciate-this universally appealing flavor, which, might we add, is laced with rich fudge, consider their litmus test failed and delete their account.įor when you need to eat your feelings: Choco Brownie Extreme Blizzard Treat When you inexplicably get the urge to wake up in the city that never sleeps, or feel like your vagabond shoes are longing to stray through the heart of it, this Blizzard flavor will hit the spot so far as your tastebuds are concerned: Our tasters, who all happened to be New Yorkers, quickly classified the cheesecake in this Blizzard as up there with New York’s best and declared the flavor, which also features fudge-covered salty caramel pieces, perfect for hot times, summer in the city (so long as you like cheesecake, of course).įor when you’ll just get one to share with your date: Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Blizzard Treat

Otherwise, there were no complaints regarding the OREO chunks or fudge crumble.įor when you wish you were in New York, New York: Caramel Fudge Cheesecake Blizzard Treat (They’d pregamed by tasting 26 Pop-Tarts). With OREO cookie pieces, gummy worms and fudge crumble blended into DQ’s signature soft serve, this flavor was technically crowned “most likely to be enjoyed by a child too young to know better” since the gummy worms therein didn’t do much for tasters’ elevated palates.
